April 4, 2014

Every year we receive many nominations for the Flyfishing Hall of Fame.¬†It has grown into an event recognized worldwide in terms of interest and reach.¬†We have inducted those who have made great impacts on the world of fly fishing. Examples include Theodore Gordon, Roderick Haig Brown, Roman Mosser and Lefty Kreh as well as many others. These individuals enjoy international recognition for their contributions to our sport.¬
Equally important, we have individuals who stand head and shoulders over many who have made permanent footprints on the banks of our local rivers, the Beaverkill, Willowemoc, Neversink, Delaware, Schoharie and Esopus. These are¬†important people who have provided an education to those interested in the American history of flyfishing. They have: expanded our knowledge of proven techniques, conserved our waters and protected our environment and maintained the quality of all our fishing opportunities. They keep the Catskill mystique alive in the world of fly fishing. These are the people we want to be known and remembered as¬†Catskill Flyfishing Legends.¬† ¬
On Friday evening, April 4, we are proud to announce a special annual dinner to recognize our first inductees: Austin 'Mac' Francis, Phil Chase and Floyd Franke as the first class of Catskill Flyfishing Legends.
This date was selected to coincide with the Catskill Fly Fishing Center's annual Season Opener which will be held the following day. We are happy to have Thomas Woodbury as our MC, who is well versed in the history of the Catskills, the rivers and the people. He will help us make this evening extra special. This will also be the first catered dinner held in the Wulff Gallery. We're certain it will be a wonderful evening and one you won't want to miss. We hope you will plan to attend this very important evening.

April 26, 2014N/A

The Long Island Flyrodders and LI TU will once again be spearheading Stream Clean and they're bringing more Boy Scouts and maybe even some Girl Scouts to assist us in cleaning our stream banks. Having these youngsters is a great opportunity for them to work on their Flyfishing Merit Badges while we teach them about flyfishing. It's a great weekend for everyone. We can always use a few extra hands so set aside Saturday    April   26th for a morning of picking up the stream and an afternoon of picking up some trout.
